Refurbished - Reliably working!

Description: Newcomb made finest commercial grade record players in the USA. This is a portable full featured vacuum tube amplified record player. It's sound is outstanding and best described as warm and rich in detail - the finest of vintage sound - a pleasure to listen to fine music records on this unit! This record player is simple, yet rugged as al parts a metal (including the tone arm!) and provides outstanding reliablility and good amount of volume. This player is a stand alone, which has a built-in speaker - so nothing else than the unit will be needed to enjoy vintage music at it's best. All 4 speeds of record types are served: 16, 33, 45 , and 78 RPM. The unit provides a RCA auxillary input / output, which can be used to record form the unit (ceramic cartridge output - about line level to seemlessly integrate with existing audio equipment - to hook to stereo add Y adapter), or use the RCA connector as an input to feed a signal to the built-in tube amplifer / speaker (guitar players love the tone of this unit! - Caution though: a guitar may blow the speaker as all sound energy focussses in a single note - I do not recommend using the internal speaker for guitar).
The unit was fully refurbished in all aspects to provide reliable performance for decades to come: complete amplifier refurb, mechanism / rubber for drive wheel - it is ready to perform reliably for decades to come! A great standalone unit to listen to vintage tunes in style! For the tube enthusiast: This unit features a single ended amplifier

Features:

4 speed (16, 78, 33, 45 RPM) with flip-over stylus.
Single eneded tube amplifier: Single ended full featured design employing a 6BQ5 output tube, with Trebble, Bass and AUX input/output. The amplifier is built like a Hi-Fi amplifier: It has it's own power transformer and output transoformer.
Volume and tone controls: Bass Trebble
Turntable motor control: Allows to pause.
Cartridge with flip-over stylus for 16/33/45/78 RPM

Work performed to restore this unit as presented: Complete overhaul of the amplifier: replaced all electrolytic capcitors and other aged parts, set bias to proper level; re-worked all contacts, controls and switcheds restoored for long-term reliability; Cleaned, degreased, cleaned and re-lubricated all mechanical parts, reworked parts in the drive meachanism, full functional test: OK.

Portable Tube Record Player

Refurbished - Reliably working!

Description: This USA made RCA Victrola portable record player is a stand alone tube amplified unit, which can play records of all 4 speeds: 16, 33, 45 , and 78 RPM. Typically the type of unit that was used in colege dorms, but is built nicely: all metal - even the tone arm! The unit has a nice "His mater's voice" lable at the inside of the lid.
The unit was fully refurbished: complete amplifier refurb, mechanism and cartridge. This unit is now ready for years of service! A great standalone unit to listen to theose old records in vintage sound again! Now even loud and clear, due to the new cartridge! For the tube lovers: This unit has a single ended amplifier employing 1 25L6 tube used in triode mode!

Features:

4 speed (16, 78, 33, 45 RPM)
Tube amplified: Single ended one tube design
Volume and tone controls
Custom modified to provide a 1/4 speaker output that can be used for: recording, a speaker, or (mono) headphones.
New Cartridge with flip-over stylus for 16/33/45/78 RPM
Upgraded to current electrical safety standards

Tubes: 1 25L6 and: This unit employs a germanium rectifier.

Condition: Good physical condition - Nice wear that gives the unit a nice accent (rather light wear and tear over the decades that looks cool!). Overall physical apprearance: good to excellent. Mechancially and electronically in well working condition - re-worked amplifier, new cartridge and re-worked parts in drive meachinsm. Stylus: both are NOS (New Old stock w/ 78 stylus). Overall condition: excellent. 8/10 !

Work performed to restore this unit as presented: Complete overhaul of the amplifier: replaced all electrolytic capcitors and re-worked all contacts, controls and switcheds restoored for long-term reliability; Cleaned, degreased, cleaned and re-lubricated all mechanical parts, replaced cartridge with matched originalpart, reworked parts in the drive meachanism, As this unit is all metal the original ungrounded power connection no longer was up to current electrical standards, so I upgraded that by installing a grounded power connector that now can accept new type grounded power cables (power cable included) custom modifircation: added a trasnformer isolated 1/4 output that can be used for a speaker, for (tube amplified) recording, or mono headphones.
Performed physical cleaning and detail work, full functional test: OK.

Description: Imagine a battery operated portable record player that plays 78 - Impossible to find, but badly needed! Here why: Old music on 78's has gotten quite expensive today. Many of us are too young to remeber the artists. In the old days we just bought the whole stack and listened at home to sort out what we liked, but high record prices of today inhibit that. The solution? A portable record player that can be brouhgt to the records in the filed wihout special requiremets, nor to disturb anybody - Have what you need to listen before you buy! Exactly that was my goal with modifying this unit. To gain this wonderful device I had to: repair it first, then restor it, then custom modify it. My modifications include: the speed upgrade to 78 (now plays 33, 45, 78), a headphone jack for private listening, and circuit upgrades that makes the original power switching more usable over the original design. Unfortunately all of the above took tremendous amounts of my work time, so please excuse my high price (which actually does not caver the amount of labor I put into this unit!) - Treasure this extremely rare find! (Not shure if I will modify another unit due to the loss in asking price versus actual labor tiem spent)

Features:
3 speed (78, 33, 45 RPM).
Headphone Jack.
Battery operated (4 C cells) - Fully portable: perfect to take along to swap meets, flea markets, antique and thrift stores!
Has included AC powers supply for AC Operation.
Built-In cassette player!
Belt driven turntable

Condition: Excellent physical condition - Shows little signs of wear. Stylus still has protective cover and I beleive was not used much at all. (actual unit shown in photo - will be glad to provide higher resolutionimages). Mechancially and electronically in well working condition - completely refurbished. Overall condition: excellent. 9/10 !

Work performed to restore this unit as presented: Repaired the record player. Replaced turtnable and cassette player drive belts. Re-worked the platter bushing. Overhaul of the amplifier: re-soldered aged points; re-worked all contacts, controls and switcheds restored for long-term reliability; Cleaned, degreased, cleaned and re-lubricated all mechanical parts, reworked parts in the drive meachanism (cassete and record player), Custom modification to 3 speed; added headphone jack, modified so that TT motor is off when cassette deck is in use, circuit modification for less hum (and other minor mods); Full functional test: OK.

Lot: 1 Battery Operated Portable Record Player + cassette deck, AC power supply, original owners manual.

Price: $175.00 Refurbished + custom modified!

Additional modifications possible (at additional cost ):
Install cartridge with flip-over stylus for 78 RPM (currently only has standard LP stylus).
Custom make hook up + cable to operate on car battery
Modify for rechargeable batteries; and: modify / add circuitry to use power supply as a charger

Refurbished - Reliably working!

Features:

3 speed (78, 33, 45 RPM)
STEREO
Volume and tone controls
Built-in stereo amplifier + 2 speakers
Operates stand alone - plug and play
Custom modified to provide RCA line level outputs, that can be used for: recording, or to hook to a more powerful stereo amplfier .
Shut off when record has played

Description: This is a relatively late model of record player - made in the 90's. I restored and then modified it, to give it a line level output for it. The concept behind my modification: To provide a stereo record player with built-in spekaers that alows to record form. If you have a computer with a line level sound input you now can connect this player directly to it to record form it. Or add a USB audio interface (I sell - inquire)

Condition: Excellent physical condition - Shows a few signs of wear but over all appearance is very clean. (actual unit shown in photo - will be glad to provide higher resolutionimages). Mechancially and electronically in well working condition - completely refurbished. Overall condition: excellent. 8+/10 !

Work performed to restore this unit as presented: cleaned and re-lubricate mechanicla parts; re-worked all contacts, controls and switcheds restoored for long-term reliability; re-soldered poor solder points; modification: added pre-amplifier circuitry and RCA jacks to provide line level output that can be used for recording, or mono headphones.
Performed physical cleaning and detail work, full functional test: OK.

What is the difference between Record Changers, Record Players and the differnet turntable types?

Record Changers allow to play multiple records automaticly without interuption. A stand alone record change rusually provides amplifer and speakers.
© ultraelectronicactive.com
Record Players are usually one piece stand-alone playback devices that have all needed components built in, which includes a built-in amplifier and most often buil-in speakers. Some record players feature detachable speakers. Most Record Players do not provide and audio output and therefore are not suitable for transfering or recording. © ultraelectronicactive.com

Turntables are usually component type Hi-fi Stereo players that hook to an external amplifier or receiver. Almost all tunrntables output at "phono" level to hook up to a "phono" input. If no phono input is present a Phono-Preamplifier is required. See below for sub categories of turtnables: © ultraelectronicactive.com
Record Changer Turntables allow to play multiple records automaticly without interuption but do not include any amplifier - designed for hook-up to stereo equipment. If your amplifier / receiver does not provide a phono inputl, a Phono-Preamplifier is required © ultraelectronicactive.com

Automatic Turntables are usually component type Hi-fi Stereo players that hook to an external amplifier or receiver. Automatic turtnables serve records automatically (user presses a button - the turtnable moves the arm) soem have auto repeat functions, but none allow to stack multiple records. Tunrntables output at "phono" level to hook up to a "phono" input. If no phono input is present a Phono-Preamplifier is required. © ultraelectronicactive.com

Semi-Automatic Turntables are usually component type Hi-fi Stereo players that hook to an external amplifier or receiver. Semi-Automatic turtnables require the user to place the tone arm to play a record, but when the record has played the the turntable moves the arm back to it's rest and shuts off. A less expensive variation of semi-automatic players turns the motor off when playing is complete, and the more disirable varation of thsi sub category lifts up the tone arm and shuts the motor off. Tunrntables output at "phono" level to hook up to a "phono" input. If no phono input is present a Phono-Preamplifier is required.

Vintage 1964 Magnavox Table Top Stereo Console

Vintage 1964 Table Top Console

The record changer of this unit features the famous "Micromatic" changer chassis which is very similar to the "Collaro Conquest" changer (uses the same technology!), which actually "feels" record sizes and thus is able to play records of different sizes fully automatic, if stacked larger to smaller records. This model is quite luxorious and taken the famous portabl emodel ot the next leavel, which now features 8" wooders and just like the portable a 2 way speaker system. In addition this unit features also a FM / AM tuner, an AUX input (for your iPod!) , and a built-in 2-way Speaker System - quite fancy in comparison to the portable unit which does not have a radio and offers only a full range speaker. You will be impressesed by this unit's quality and sond!
